Poly Pizza Model Upload Guidelines

  • Don't include "low poly" in your title, description or tags. The whole dang site is low poly.
  • Your model must have materials + textures included.
  • Models with unnecessarily high poly counts will be rejected.
  • Your model should roughly fit in stylistically with the rest of the site (eg Low poly, flat shaded, no voxels etc )
  • Make sure your model is in OBJ or FBX formats with any other supporting materials, textures, text files etc zipped together
  • Avoid metallic and reflective materials - They will be removed in model previews.
  • Colored materials are prefered to flat textures
  • Generally models should be made to the best of your ability with the goal of being used in production projects. Don't let this scare you off though, our standards are pretty lenient. There is absolutely someone somewhere that will love your model.
  • Your model's tags, title and orbit position may be slightly altered by an admin to improve searchability. These will almost always be minor changes but If you do not agree with them please contact us.
  • Mesh primitives will be rejected
  • Don't upload multiple models in one file, split them into seperate files and use bulk upload (see below)
  • Including other supporting files like a .blend or .mb in your zip is excellent but any other malicious or misleading content will result in a permaban.

Bundle Uploads

  • Simply upload a zipped folder with all your models and make sure to name each file properly
  • If you'd like to upload anything along side the models (ie textures, .blend files) make sure to name them the same as the model
  • Please don't include redundant models, such as different sizes of the same thing, the same model but seperated or different states (like 2 different open and closed scissor models)

Troubleshooting

  • If your uploaded model has no color in the preview try this if you're using blender and make sure materials are set to use principled BSDF.
  • Make sure textures are in jpg or png formats otherwise they won't show in the preivew.

  • If your models are showing backfaces in the preview:

    • Make sure your normals are facing the right way
    • Make sure your texture doesn't have any transparency (this is a bug in the fbx converter)

Thanks so much for contributing to Poly Pizza! Love you :)
